Frisco Tea Party Patriots –
At our October 10th meeting, a number of resources were provided to learn about the ten Constitutional Amendments that are on the November ballot. Since then, additional information has become available as groups have analyzed the propositions. Grassroots Texans has consolidated this onto a web page that provides the actual amendments, the background to each and opinions of various organizations. It also provides a matrix summary of the "recommendations" from each of these groups. This matrix is also copied below for your convenience.
We strongly encourage you to visit this site - http://grassrootstexans.net/pages/voterguide/ - and become familiar with the pros and cons of each proposition. Then VOTE. Remember, in these types of elections, propositions usually pass due to low voter turnout - a non-vote often equates to a "yes."
Here's the schedule for voting:
October 24th - First Day of Early Voting
November 4th - Last Day of Early Voting
November 8th - Election Day
If you lose the link, remember that you can always visit our site at www.facebook.com/FriscoTeaParty You do not have to be registered user to see the information (you can remain anonymous!)

The chart above is not intended to be, nor should it be used as, a substitute for individual investigation and decision making on these propositions. Each voter is encouraged to inform him or herself as to the pros and cons of each of these proposals and cast an informed vote at the ballot box.

General Membership Meeting—9/12/2011
A summary of September’s meeting—for the record and for those who were unable attend.
Thank you to everyone who attended the September 12, 2011 meeting.
We had a productive meeting. In standing with the theme of Constitution week, we started off the evening with a rolling power point visual display of the people that were critical to the formation of our Constitution and the founding of our country. We also enjoyed a presentation by Justin Butterfield Esquire, a law and policy expert representing the Liberty Institute. This group works tirelessly in defending cases where there is concern that a group or individual may have had their Constitutional rights violated in areas of free speech and religion.
We also had in attendance several elected officials and candidates who are running for offices in the March 2012 primary. Our monthly meetings are a perfect opportunity to meet these candidates face-to-face and to get to know them. Without your critical input and questions, it will be very difficult for you to know what each candidate’s position is on the issues that are important to you.
Co-Chair Report—
Our group is still in need of a person to assume responsibilities for Membership activities. It is so important that we all get involved and volunteer an hour of our time at some level if we are to be effective in bringing about the changes we are hoping for in the upcoming 2012 elections.
In the upcoming November 2011 elections we have Ten Constitutional Amendments which will be on the ballot. More complete information on these will be provided at our next meeting as more detail descriptions become available.
Committee Reports--
Chairmen were introduced with each providing a brief report on their group’s activities.
Keynote Speaker---
Justin Butterfield of the Liberty Institute was our keynote speaker. The bulk of his time was devoted to speaking about the cases they are currently representing. Justin started his presentation out with a quiz of the audience to see how much we knew about the Constitution. We had several young people in the crowd providing comprehensive responses. We were all very impressed with their in depth knowledge of the Constitution.
Noted cases are:
· Candy Cane Case in which the Plano ISD thwarted 6 year old boy’s gifts at the school’s “Winter Party” (we call it a Christmas party everywhere else). The Plano ISD is still holding that it’s illegal for any student in the Plano ISD to bring religious material to school. Mainly they are against any reference to Christian symbols in the schools.
· Houston Veteran Affairs Case in which the VA director is not allowing the mention of God at all in any of the veteran funerals. The VA ladies auxiliary in the past has been praying for the deceased and extending condolences through saying the words “God bless you and your family”. The newly appointed Cemetery Director has directed them to remove the word “God” from their vocabulary.
· Two cases in which a preacher at a public event and a high school valedictorian were told that if they mentioned the name Jesus in their prayers, they would be arrested. Thanks to the fast work of Liberty Institute, these people were allowed to pray as they had originally intended at their events.
· The Liberty Institute continues to defend the Mojave Desert memorial as well as others to make sure that religious freedom is still being allowed and supported in the United States of America.
Please consider inviting your friends to the next monthly Frisco Tea Party meeting at 7 p.m. @ Collin County Community College in Frisco on October 10th where we will here form Cathie Adams about Agenda 21, which is the United Nations attempt to take over many aspects of the United States sovereignty. It’ll definitely be worth your time.
Quote of the Month:
“You must remember, my fellow citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of Liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing.”
- President Andrew Jackson

Frisco Voters,
Let's face it, nobody ever wants other people to think that you're against the arts. After all, in our post modern world, the arts are held as a testament to how cultured, affluent and elite that we've become. So taking the hard line stance to vote "FOR" revoking the Arts of Collin County bonds, you have to be willing to be politically incorrect.
But in all reality, this debate is very little about the arts and more about a handful of elected officials that believe they know better how to spend your money than you do.
The TOP 5 Reasons Why I Voted "FOR" Revoking the ACC Bonds:
1) The Lack of Private Investment. After 9.5 years, the only "in the bank" donations are $3.66 Million. So, you're telling me that an average of $385K per year has been raised? Not to be rude but that's pathetic. Texans are incredibly generous people and there are many philanthropic families living in North Texas that give freely to arts projects. Also, look at all the amazing, beautiful churches that are being built all over Frisco. Someone is donating generously to build these buildings. Why aren't there more substantial private donations for the ACC?
2) The High Percentage of Taxpayer Funding. With only $3.66M in the bank, the remainder will be paid by taxpayers. That represents 96% of the entire project. The ATT Center in downtown Dallas was funded 93% by PRIVATE donations. The Bass Hall in Fort Worth was 100% funded by PRIVATE donations.
3) Frisco has more importantant financial priorities than the ACC. The far western side of Frisco needs a Fire Station. Our growing city continually faces infrastructure challenges and needs roads. And, don't we want to uphold our world-class public safety?
4) It's the Economy, Stupid. This is the worst economic environment to saddle taxpayers with a tax increase. It's not like this is happening in a vaccuum. We're paying $4/gallon in gas, increased food costs and all-around belt tightening due to our lagging economy.
5) Frisco deserves the BEST. Someday when the private funding is available, why wouldn't we build an Arts Hall in Frisco, not Allen?
Please consider these reasons when you go vote. Vote "FOR" Frisco and "For" Revoking the bonds.
